DAYTONA BEACH, FL (February 18, 2020)- As the 2020 NASCR Gander RV & Outdoors Series opened this past weekend at Daytona International Speedway, it was Sun Peaks, B.C. racer Jason White continuing to turn heads with his smooth and smart driving on the famed track.

Overcoming several obstacles along the way, White drove his #33 Powder Ventures Excavating / YourGMCTruckstore.com Chevrolet to a top-ten finish.

Partnering with Reaume Brothers Racing White looked to continue his excellent performance from the previous week when he scored a sixth-place result in the ARCA Menards series race, however the weekend got off to a rough start.

“We had some technical issues and unfortunately only managed to get in three laps of practice” explained White. “We were chasing them right up until qualifying, I literally went from inspection out onto the track for qualifying” he added.

Using every ounce of effort and knowledge White pushed the #33 Powder Ventures Excavating / YourGMCTruckStore.com around the 2.5-track fast enough to qualify for the race. He would start near the back of the field, but that was okay with White.

“Our plan was to stay at the back and stay out of trouble” explained White. “So, starting there wasn’t an issue. This race is about being in good position at the end and this was the right strategy for success, especially with our limited practice”.

For the first three-quarters of the race White worked the plan to perfection and learned what his #33 Powder Ventures Excavating / YourGMCTruckStore.com Chevrolet was capable of doing. The outside line would prove to be his strength. In the last quarter of the race White began to move forward and put himself in position for a top result. As regularly occurs, the race came down to the final laps and a dash for the checkered flag.

“I knew I could get to the outside and gain spots, but I didn’t want to go too soon” said White. “Finally, in the late stages I had gained a bunch of positions, we were inside the top-ten and in good position for the end.

White hustled the #33 Powder Ventures Excavating / YourGMCTruckStore.com Chevrolet right to the end and claimed a tenth-place finish and while pleased, he couldn’t help thinking about what might have been.

“On the last restart, I lined up eighth, but the trucked bogged out” said White. “Otherwise, the number three was in sixth ahead of us, I was faster than him all night and they finished second. But I’m happy for another top ten, not a mark on either ride and I sure hope this is the beginning of more races like this. We’ve shown what we can do, and I think we’ve earned a lot of respect from everyone” he concluded.

Jason White was also quick to credit those that helped out on this immense undertaking to compete in both races.

“Huge thank you to Rob Zimmer and the Zimmer Auto Group, this is extra special because you are part of it. And to all my guys, Larry Jackson, Mike Ernst, my brother Jim, you couldn’t ask for a better group, thank you”.

Of Note: At the conclusion of the Daytona 500 on Monday evening, driver Ryan Newman sustained serious injuries during a crash on the final lap, while serious they are not considered life threatening. Jason White and the team wish to send their thoughts and support to Ryan, his family, team and fans.
